Translating a Primary Document


1. Do Now

2. Students will look on the overhead at a primary document written by Henry Hudson. I will read it out loud and we will talk about why it is the way it is.

3. We will go through together and we will circle words that look weird.

4. Students will work in pairs, list those weird words, and try to come up with translations. I will then write the modern day words in and we will read it again.

5. Students will write a summary of the piece.

6. We will go over the fieldwork for the next day.
